We are a registered craft business for roofs and facades, based just outside Rostock on the German Baltic coast. Our core work is roof cleaning, roof coating, facade cleaning and facade coating; we also clean stone, paving and patios and seal them on request.
Most of our jobs are in Rostock and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Because Rostock has direct ferry links to Trelleborg in Sweden and Gedser in Denmark, we also take on planned assignments for homeowners across the Baltic who prefer to communicate in English.
What we do: roofs, facades and stone surfaces
Our work starts where weather leaves its mark on a house. On roofs we remove moss, algae and lichen, and on worn concrete or clay tiles we apply a protective roof coating that closes the surface and gives the roof a fresh, even colour. On facades we remove green growth and dirt streaks from render and brick, and we recoat exterior walls with breathable, algae-inhibiting paint systems.
Alongside this core work we clean natural stone, paving, driveways and patios, and we offer sealing (impregnation) for porous surfaces so that water and dirt soak in less quickly. Each service has its own page with details on method, suitable materials and limits:
- Roof cleaning and moss removal – pressure matched to tile type and condition
- Roof coating – cleaning, primer and several coats, typically lasting 15–20 years
- Facade cleaning – render, brick and insulated walls, low pressure where needed
- Facade coating – exterior wall painting with Brillux systems, typically lasting 10–15 years
- Stone, paving and patio cleaning – with optional sealing
How jobs in Sweden and Denmark work
We are based in Germany, so work in Sweden and Denmark is organised differently from a job around the corner. Our team travels from Rostock by ferry – to Trelleborg for southern Sweden or to Gedser for Denmark – and works on site for the duration of the job. These are planned assignments, scheduled in advance together with you, not same-week call-outs.
The first step is always photos. Send us pictures of the roof or facade via WhatsApp or email: the whole surface, a few close-ups of the tiles or render, and the area around the house. Tell us roughly where the property is located. From the photos we can usually say whether the job suits our services and what it is likely to involve.
If it does, we agree the next steps with you – whether an on-site visit is needed before a written quote, and which time window works for travel and weather. You receive a written quote before any work begins, and the job ends with a joint handover. We communicate with you in English or German throughout; we do not speak Swedish or Danish.
Why roofs and facades in the Baltic climate need care
Houses along the Baltic coast deal with the same conditions on both sides of the water: high humidity, frequent rain, wind and long, damp winters. Surfaces that stay wet for long periods are ideal for algae and moss. North-facing roof slopes, shaded walls under trees and houses near the sea or lakes are usually affected first.
Growth is more than a cosmetic problem. Moss holds water like a sponge, and when that water freezes in the pores of a tile, repeated frost cycles can make the surface flake. Thick moss cushions can also block the overlaps between tiles and clog gutters. On facades, algae keep render damp, and insulated walls are particularly prone because their thin render cools quickly at night and collects condensation.
Regular cleaning and, where the surface is already worn, a suitable coating slow this process down considerably. They do not replace repairs: broken tiles, a leaking roof or damp rising from the ground need a roofer or another specialist first – and we tell you openly when that is the case.
Why homeowners choose CTN
We concentrate on roofs and facades instead of offering everything. That focus shows in how we work: we match the pressure to the material, use low pressure on sensitive surfaces and remove moss by hand where a jet would do damage. Coatings are only applied to clean, dry and sound surfaces, because preparation decides how long the result lasts.
CTN Oberflächen-Design is entered in the German register of craft businesses (Handwerksrolle) and works with Brillux as its partner for paints and coatings. Our customers rate us 5.0 stars on Google (as of October 2026). You receive a written quote that lists the work in clear terms before anything starts.
We would rather advise against a job than sell something that will not last. If your roof needs a roofer rather than a coating, or your facade only needs cleaning instead of paint, you will hear that from us – in plain English or German.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work in Sweden and Denmark?
Yes, as planned assignments. Our team travels from Rostock by ferry to Trelleborg (Sweden) or Gedser (Denmark) and works on site for the duration of the job. Dates are agreed well in advance and depend on the scope of work and the weather. Start by sending us photos of your roof or facade so we can tell you whether the job suits our services.
In which language can I contact you?
You can contact us in English or German. All advice, quotes and arrangements during the job are handled in one of these two languages. We do not speak Swedish or Danish, so English is usually the easiest choice for customers in Sweden and Denmark. Phone, WhatsApp and email all work – use whichever suits you best.
How do I get a quote?
Send us photos and a short description first. Use WhatsApp on +49 173 912 15 03 or email ctn-design@outlook.de, and include the location of the property. Based on the photos we give you a first assessment and agree whether an on-site visit is needed. You then receive a written quote that lists the work, before anything is booked or started.
Which roofs can you clean and coat?
Mainly pitched roofs with clay tiles, concrete tiles or asbestos-free fibre cement. The tiles must be sound and the roof watertight; a coating does not fix leaks or broken tiles. Asbestos-containing sheets should only be handled by licensed specialist firms, and in Germany uncoated asbestos cement roofs may not be cleaned or coated at all. Photos help us check your roof.
How long does a roof or facade coating last?
A professionally applied roof coating typically lasts 15–20 years, a facade coating 10–15 years. The actual lifespan depends on careful cleaning and priming, the right system for the surface and how exposed the house is. Shaded, damp locations near the coast put more strain on a coating than open, sunny ones. Occasional cleaning helps a coating last longer.
